衷心感謝

　　2007年區議會選舉終於結束了。本人以1,259票落選。首先，要在此向曾經投下神聖一票給我的朋友致以衷心謝意，謝謝你們對我和公民黨的信任，同時因為我的落選而使你們失望，我深感歉意，在此，向你們誠意道歉。

　　 我亦想趁這機會謝謝我的競選經理，穗禾苑商場文輝書局的林太，和一大班穗禾選區的居民，自發的來幫我做助選，其中包括梁婆婆、Pauline、吳小姐一家、林先生、凌先生、葉先生一家、陳先生、梁小姐、Gary、潮州阿叔、穗禾苑的商戶和街市的檔主、後來加入的珠女。還有很多在背後支持我的不知名街坊。除了天父之外，你們的支持對我非常重要，是我力量的源頭。我能夠每天從早到晚，整整一個半月，每晚只能睡三個多小時的境況下，仍能熬下去，全因有你！查錫我在此向你們頂禮致敬和鞠躬致謝！

　　 我想在這裡和大家分享一下，在這次競選工程的一些感受。最令我感動的，是梁婆婆每天都給我送湯水和柑桔蜜糖水，街坊經常給我打氣和鼓勵。投票日當晚，我在街市旁的停車位，看到一位開名貴房車的選民，他告訴我他是專程從國外趕回來投這我一票的，要我繼續加油。聽到他這樣說，我能不感動嗎？

　　 最使我難受的，不是選舉落敗，而是投票日前一晚深夜，看到一位七、八十歲的老婆婆在街市旁撿爛菜，我心裡一酸，眼淚奪眶而出，我不禁要問，為何這麼富裕的香港社會，可以容讓這種情況出現？人與人之間的關懷去了那裡？

　　 選舉已經過去，但公民黨的地區工作已經展開。作為一個政黨，我們會就這次選舉的結果作出深入討論和反思！希望大家繼續支持公民黨，讓我們一起同心攜手建立一個民主、公義和充滿關懷的公民社區！在此，再一次多謝大家！

According to the most recent findings of an unofficial opinion poll, the number of votes to be cast on Mr. Stephen Char (No. 2), who is a barrister at law by profession and a candidate fielded by the Civic Party, is very close to his opponent, Mr. Pang Cheung Wai from the DAB. Hence, your vote is extremely important to Stephen and the Civic Party. You have probably read the pamphlets we mailed to you not long ago and should be able to tell the difference between the Civic Party and DAB. It is time to make your choice, a better choice. If you agree that 16 years is too long for a District Councillor to hold his office in your community, and if you believe in freedom, democracy, justice and passion, please do come out to vote on 18th November 2007 (Sunday). We are told that we cannot have universal suffrage because Hong Kong people are not yet politically mature. Please let the world know that we are already mature enough to make our choice. 【明報專訊】沙田穗禾選區公民黨候選人查錫我的競選經理，在上周收到恐嚇電話，以粗言穢語喝罵及表明要「斬佢全家」。當事人報警，警方列作刑事恐嚇案處理。查錫我指出，他的競選經理並無與人結仇，最近只是幫他助選，相信事件可能與區議會選舉有關。

查錫我的競選經理林太回應本報查詢時表示，自己在區內開店舖，在上周收到電話，對方聲稱是某某人的擁護者，然後不斷粗言穢語，「更說要斬開我幾多碌」。她指自己沒有結私怨，過去替民主派助選時也多次受到恐嚇。她拒絕透露該男子自稱是誰的擁護者。

公民黨發表聲明，指對事件極度驚訝，並強烈譴責有關人士，要求警方盡力破案。穗禾區目前有3人參選，除了查錫我，還包括現任區議員民建聯彭長緯及前铫的李瑞霞。

警方證實，10月17日曾收到一名女士報案，報稱較早前在沙田區收到匿名電話，警方列為刑事恐嚇案處理。

　　三天前(21/10/2007)，一名不知名中國男子致電公民黨沙田穗禾選區候選人查錫我的競選代理人，用粗言穢語辱罵她，並恐嚇會把她和她的家人斬成一塊塊。有關事件已向警方舉報，警方已把此案列為刑事恐嚇案處理。公民黨對有關事件表示極度驚訝，並對有關人士所作之非法行為強烈譴責。　香港市民一向奉公守法，而歷屆議會選舉均在非暴力，公平和公開的情況下進行。此優良傳統正受到嚴重挑戰。香港市民絕對不會容許把暴力或威嚇等犯罪行為帶入選舉。公民黨要求警方盡全力破案，把有關罪犯繩之於法。

Press Release from Civic Party on District Council Election    

                Three days ago (21/10/2007), an unidentified Chinese male called the Election Agent of Mr. Stephen Char, who is Civic Party’s candidate of Sui Wo Constituency in Shatin, using foul and insulting language.  The said Chinese male also threatened that he would chop the Election Agent and her family members into pieces.  The incident had been reported to the police and it was classified as a criminal intimidation case by the police.  The Civic Party is appalled and strongly condemns such unlawful behaviour.  Our long established tradition of having a non-violent, fair and open election is being seriously challenged.  Hong Kong people are law abiding citizens who would not tolerate anyone using violence or threat of using violence in our elections.   The Civic Party urges the police to follow up the investigation vigorously and bring the criminal concerned to justice as soon as possible.
